About Linker Guitars
About Our Shop
As you know, it is difficult to find a good guitar technician. This is especially true in Jerusalem, Israel, which is where Franklin Linker was living in 2005. So, when he saw an article in the Jerusalem Post about Jacob Algranati, a luthier who was teaching classes in the Tel-Aviv area, he decided that the time had come to learn how to build and repair his own instruments.
Franklin is a perfectionist by nature, and an exceedingly careful fellow. He mistakenly let these traits lead him to a career in accounting, but let's face it: lutherie is much more interesting use of his talents. After his time with Algranati, Franklin moved to Michigan to study with Brian Galloup. After completing Galloup's Master Class, he got a job in Austin, Texas with Collings Guitars (do yourself a favor, and click that link). In his five years at Collings, he spent time in build departments, the finish department, and in set-up (fun side note: he built over 800 ukuleles).
Located in Denver, NC, Linker Guitars is ready to handle your stringed instrument needs. From basic maintenance, to major repair, to custom build, we provide quality service with attention to detail (like, accountant level attention to detail). And when you decide that you'd like to learn a little more about maintenance and repair, or perhaps even learn to build your own guitar, contact us. We have workshops and classes that might suit you. But beware: dabbling in lutherie has been known to lead to career changes.
We are located at 748 N Highway 16, Denver, NC 28037. Originally built in 1950 for residential purposes, the building has since housed a retail store, a real estate office, and a tutoring center for high-school students. In 2000, the extension which now serves as the shop's mill was added onto the original structure.
